Information

Throughout the recent turbulent years we have maintained our vision that investing in people and rewarding performance provides us with a competitive edge in our markets and supports the long-term goals of our company. In 2010/2011, we continued to capture the benefits of our successful three-year People strategy, now in its second year.

People Leadership plays a fundamental role in our ambition to achieve market leadership by attracting, developing and retaining the best people. It is a key differentiator in our peer group.

The year saw the launch of our Milestone Programme designed to help newly appointed managers begin their development journeys with increased effectiveness. This cross-functional programme enables them to rapidly build their experience in a management role and develop key competencies from a personal, team member and client perspective. This programme is developed and executed in cooperation with several European Deloitte firms.

In the area of recruiting, we took important steps to professionalise our social media hiring strategy and create awareness around the Deloitte employer brand. This involved the incorporation of Deloitte colleagues in social recruiting through improved pre-job coaching and supervision. A central feature of this initiative was the launch of the recruitment site werkenbijdeloitte.nl, which offers the end user a positive brand experience supported by the latest recruitment technology.

As a result, our recruitment efforts in the year were extensive, filling almost 1,000 new vacancies and participating in over 150 campus recruitment events. Social media was also a feature of New Year’s Eve celebrations, during which our employees were able to tweet their wishes for the year via #Deloittewish on Twitter. Each tweet was beamed via laser onto the Deloitte Rotterdam office building, leading to some 150,000 impressions, the number of times a message was displayed on a web page. This innovative campaign received the Ahead Award and the Dutch Interactive Award.

Another online channel for employee communication launched in the year was the new alumni website. This website was integrated with LinkedIn so that alumni can register for the programme via their LinkedIn accounts. We launched an internal awareness campaign to familiarise employees with the programme and encourage them to invite former colleagues. More than 1,000 alumni registered within the first six months and we also successfully organised our first Consulting alumni meeting.
