Sustainability is integral to everything we do and a fundamental part of our ‘As One’ strategy. In 2010/2011, we continued to embed sustainability throughout our organisation and took important steps to help build the capacity and expertise needed to reach clients with new and existing service lines in this area.
Our dedicated sustainability team was brought into Deloitte Innovation in order to facilitate these objectives. We aim to deliver sustainability solutions to our clients in an integrated way and innovate our service offerings to create real value. We will do this based on cross functional collaboration and by applying multiple partners to each client engagement. Our existing Innovator Track schemes now include a sustainability focus. Deloitte will first implement these programmes internally as it looks to promote innovative thinking about sustainability throughout the organisation.
In 2010, we also began the first stage in an ambitious stakeholder engagement process by issuing a survey to our stakeholders to help determine the elements of our sustainability strategy for the next period, in line with our vision to be the Standard of Excellence in 2016. The survey will be followed by further engagement at a workshop in September that will drill deeper into the most material issues arising from the survey and establish our targets to 2016.
At the same time, Deloitte has actively continued to promote participation in the community through the Deloitte Fair Chance Foundation. This initiative leverages our time, funds and expertise to help underprivileged children in the Netherlands to develop their skills and knowledge. In its inaugural year, the Foundation helped around 1,000 youngsters through a range of educational initiatives. An Impact Day was held on November 17 with around 370 colleagues reaching out to the community and dedicating their time and expertise in support of the Foundation.
